AVEDA Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight Review

 In Tips & Tricks

What It Is

A lightweight styling cream that gradually straightens and smooths curls with extended use

What It Does

Reduces frizz and loosens curls (over time) to achieve straighter, smoother styles

Key Ingredients

Plant fibers (loosen curls); dimethicone, corn starch, and tapioca starch (reduce frizz and protect from humidity)

How it Looks/Feels/Smells

It’s white and creamy out of the tube but melts into a light gel as you rub it between your fingertips and through your hair. It has a delicate floral citrus scent that dissipates quickly once applied.

Why We Like It

Smoothing strong-willed waves and curls is a tall order—which is why straightening products so often fall short. Hair either springs stubbornly back to its natural state within hours or lies flat against your head, weighed down into submission. This formula, however, rises to the occasion. A cocktail of curl-softening and humidity-blocking ingredients loosens bends and protects the straight(er) style from the moisture that can compromise it. After running a generous blob through sections of damp hair following every shampoo for a week and then styling as usual, our testers’ wavy and curly hair dried noticeably straighter (even without heat). And when they did blow-dry, they could get the job done way faster. The cream is light enough to smooth fine curls without smothering them; kinky curls will stay coiled but relax just enough for some extra bounce.
